At ANZ our purpose is to shape a world where people and communities thrive, and to achieve this we need a talented Database Engineer to join our Database Platforms technology area. The Database Platforms technology area sits within our Infrastructure and Cloud Services Domain and builds and operates our database platforms.

You are (or aspire to be) a database specialist and have a passion for all things database. You automate all the things and apply best practices in the database devops space. You (or aspire to) design, build and operate large scale databases across both private and public clouds. You will likely know more multiple database engines, across both public and private clouds. You will be able to bring experience in operational support, security, compliance, networking, performance and all things database related to our database estate - starting as always with the code.

As a Database Engineer, you will work on missions that excite you, including developing and supporting platforms and services which will help our customers get on top of their money while using the latest tech stacks.

What will your day look like
Work in a collaborative team to solve challenges and problems on operational databases.
Improve database infrastructure using code and follow software engineering best practices
Utilise knowledge of database and related technology to improve stability, performance, reliability and compliance throughout the database fleet.

What will you bring?

But back to some of the skills:
You will be a specialist in multiple databases likely including Postgres, Oracle, and cloud native databases.
You have strong incident investigation and problem management skills
You have a passion for understanding things database including: security, performance, data management, backup restoration, encryption and compliance
Comfortable coding in one or more languages (bash, JavaScript, Golang, Python, Powershell, etc), and you use these skills to automate as much as possible
An understanding of implementing Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terraform, along with continuous integration/delivery tooling such as Bitbucket/GitHub, CodeFresh, etc.
You automate all the things and apply best-practices in CI/CD and infrastructure automation.
You (or aspire to) design, build and operate large scale database workloads across private and public clouds.
A growth mindset and desire to continually learn and share new techniques and ideas
